Japan: Decades to clean up Fukushima

The Japanese prime minister, Naoto Kan, has said it will take decades to clean up and decommission the Fukushima nuclear plant crippled by an earthquake and tsunami earlier this year. Mr Kan's comments are the first government indication of a time-frame for bringing the nuclear crisis to an end. When the disaster in March knocked out power to Fukushima, three reactors suffered meltdowns, and hydorgen expllosions showered radio active devris over a wide area.
