Passengers have been left
stranded in the air after the
Ngong Ping 360 cable car
service on Lantau was hit by a
technical problem. The service
was suspended shortly before
three o'clock this afternoon.
The company said the problem was caused by a pulley which
wasn't running smoothly,
causing the automated system
to grind to a halt. It said
all passengers who were
stranded had been brought to
safety.
At least four passengers
called the emergency services saying they were trapped and felt
unwell.
Some mainland visitors said they were trapped for an hour and a half and when they called the cable car company for an
explanation they were told
the problem could have been
caused by the cold weather.
Ambulances were on standby at Ngong Ping Market.
