Panasonic warns of record US$10bn loss

04-02-2012

The Japanese electronics giant, Panasonic, has predicted that its net loss for this financial year could be the worst ever -- at more than US$10 billion.

The company said there'd been a decline in TV and mobile phone sales as well as restructuring costs after buying its smaller partner Sanyo.

Earlier this week, Sony and Sharp also predicted huge losses for the trading year. They blamed the weak global economy, last year's tsunami disaster and flooding in Thailand, which affected Japanese-owned factories there.
