The government has denied that
it's cracking down on posters
hung in public housing estates
on the basis of political
content. The Housing
Secretary, Eva Cheng, says
each year the Housing
Department handles more than
10,000 requests to hang
posters, and the policy is
fair, transparent and
impartial.
But some lawmakers
complained that posters
critical of the chief
executive Donald Tsang and
relating to the June 4
crackdown in Beijing had been
removed.
Ms Cheng said she
would ask the buildings
director to ensure the policy
on displaying posters was
explained to estate management
staff, some of whom may be
employed by outsourced
companies.
