The European Union is opening
a new office in Burma,
as a sign of its commitment to
the political reforms in the
country.
The EU's foreign
policy chief, Catherine
Ashton, who's visiting Burma,
said the reforms must continue
so that people could be
confident about their future.
Earlier, Lady Ashton held talks with government ministers and the opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi.
The EU suspended sanctions against Burma earlier this month but said it wished to see further progress towards democracy before lifting them completely.
