The Chief Executive-elect, C.Y.
Leung, has observed a minute's
silence in honour of mainland
pro-democracy activist Li
Wangyang who was found dead in
suspicious circumstances in
Hunan province earlier this
month.
Mr Leung was asked to
take part in the tribute by
the organiser of a public
forum in Kwai Fong which he
was attending.
Mr Leung has
said it would be inappropriate for
him to comment on Mr Li's
death.
Thousands of people
took part in a protest last
Sunday to demand an
investigation into the
dissident's death, which Shaoyang authorities claim was
an accident.
