A High Court judge has
rejected an application for
bail by a former chairwoman of
the Hong Kong General Chamber
of Commerce, Lily Chiang.
She's appealing against a
three-and-a-half year jail
term she was given last year
for engineering a HK$3.7 million
stocks scam.
She told
staff members to trade shares
and share options on her
behalf in breach of listing
rules and was convicted of
three charges including
conspiracy to defraud and
authorising the issuance of a
prospectus that included an
untrue statement.
The offences were committed in 2001 and
2002.
