Court bailiffs have cleared the last of the "Occupy Central" protesters from the plaza beneath the HSBC headquarters. But they faced resistance and needed almost a day to complete their task.

Minor scuffles broke out between the group and security guards. Several occupiers were carried away, and two guards were hurt when the protesters tried to break free.

At least three people were arrested, including the brother of the late Cantopop star Anita Mui.

The protesters had been camping out at HSBC since last October as part of the global anti-capitalist movement. The High Court had issued an order giving them two weeks to leave, but some refused to go.
