Police popularity drops to a record low

A Hong Kong University survey has shown that the popularity of the police has dropped to a record low.

The University's Public Opinion Programme found that the "net satisfaction rate" with the police was just 29 per cent.

The programme's director, Robert Chung, said the drop in popularity was obviously due to the Occupy movement, in which police have been stuck between opposing political forces.

He said the police should be professional in carrying out their duty and remain apolitical.
