One of the programme reporter visited the scene of the riots in Jakarta, Indonesia to investigate the reasons behind the disturbances and attempts by locals to rebuild their society is the theme of the first part of this programme.

The second part was broadcast just four days after India completed its five nuclear tests and before Pakistan had responded with tests of its own. Paul Gordon, the presenter, spoke to the Indian consul-general in Hong Kong to find out why the tests had been done and the historical reasons behind India's refusal to sign the two treaties limiting the spread of nuclear weapons.
