Joseph Haydn—Kapellmeister to the Esterházy family—wrote more than a hundred symphonies whose clarity, wit, and optimism continue to inspire. Johannes Brahms upheld those Classical ideals with deep feeling and craft, and he was admired by his colleague Max Bruch, who dedicated his First Symphony to Brahms. This programme brings together cherished orchestral works by these three masters, including Max Bruch’s beloved Violin Concerto No. 1 with Esther Yoo as soloist. The City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong will be conducted by Wilson Ng.
