1. The icing on the cake 錦上添花
糖霜(icing)使蛋糕更美味，因此這個短語形容讓美好事物更加完美，有錦上添花的意思。
"The excellent service was the icing on the cake at that restaurant."
那間餐廳的優質服務，讓整體體驗錦上添花。
2. Salad days 年少輕狂的日子
有說這短語源自莎士比亞的劇作《安東尼與克莉奧佩特拉》(Anthony and Cleopatra)，克莉奧佩特拉回憶自己年輕時的青澀與衝動，稱之為「salad days」。
“My salad days, when I was green in judgment, cold in blood, to say as I said then!”
「我年輕的時候，不懂事，冷血，所以才說出那樣的話。」(出自莎士比亞《安東尼與克莉奧佩特拉》)
3. A recipe for disaster
指錯誤的食譜會導致料理失敗，引申為某種行為或計畫註定會失敗。
"Trying to cook a five-course meal without any experience is a recipe for disaster."
沒有經驗就嘗試煮五道菜，簡直是災難的前兆。
4. Take with a grain of salt
表示對某事保持懷疑態度，半信半疑。
"You should take his restaurant recommendations with a grain of salt; he has very different tastes."
你應該對他的餐廳推薦持保留態度，因為他的口味很獨特。
5. Cry over spilled milk
為無法改變的事後悔或難過，多用來叫人不要為不可挽回的事情煩惱。
"There's no use crying over spilled milk; we can always order another dish."
沒必要為已打翻的牛奶哭泣，我們還可以再點一道菜。
6. Eat humble pie
指一些人會承認錯誤並表示謙卑。
“After boasting about his unbeatable chess skills, he had to eat humble pie when he lost to a beginner.”
在誇口自己是無敵的西洋棋高手後，他輸給了一名初學者，只好低頭認錯。
