Operation Santa Claus 2024 is now inviting funding applications. The annual charity fundraising drive, jointly organised by Radio Television Hong Kong and the South China Morning Post, is looking forward, once again, to supporting a number of worthy causes. So far, Operation Santa Claus has raised more than HK$383 million, for over 353 wonderful, life changing charity projects.

The health body has just announced the appointment of a new review committee, following a spate of blunders in some public hospitals. 

From a woman having her reproductive organs mistakenly removed to a man left in critical condition due a feeding tube wrongly inserted in his airway, public hospitals have recently made headlines for  the wrong reasons. 

Patients’ rights advocates have long called on health authorities to better supervise investigations, while some doctors argue that staff shortages and long working hours are the real problem. 

So what should be the top priority of this new committee?
