On Tuesday's Backchat, we're delving into the latest pay trends. A recent survey of hiring managers reveals that workers can expect salary increases of up to five percent this year and this even as the government announced pay freezes for civil servants.
Workers in IT and banking can expect to get the most generous increases, as companies in those fields seem to be the most eager to retain top talent. But will this lead more public sector employees to consider a move in the private sector?
In the second half of the show after the news, we’ll take a look at the financial performance of Hong Kong’s flagship airline – Cathay Pacific – and whether a planned increase to the airport departure tax could impact some segments of the aviation industry.
