Aviation dismantling facilities / Native English teacher policy changes / Eid al-Fitr festivities
On Wednesday's Backchat, we delved into Hong Kong’s role as a regional aviation hub. French aeronautics firm Elior recently announced its intention to develop Asia’s first aircraft parts processing and trading centre in Hong Kong.
The company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Airport Authority last month, paving the way for the construction of aircraft dismantling and recycling facilities. The firm also plans to provide a range of training programmes, which authorities say will further enhance Hong Kong’s status in the aviation sector. What further steps can the SAR take to strengthen its position? And do we have sufficient space to accommodate these new facilities?
After 9:30, we spoke to an educator about new regulations that are expected to give headteachers more flexibility in hiring native English teachers – otherwise known as NETs.
And in the last part of the programme, we heard from a religious leader about how Hong Kong's Muslim community celebrates the end of Ramadan.
