    Donald Trump's victory

On Friday's Backchat, Global Focus talks about Donald Trump's return to the White House.
The 78-year-old secured over 270 Electoral Colleges and 50.9 percent of the popular votes against incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris' 48.6 percent and is on track to become the first Republican president to win the popular vote in 20 years.
From his felony conviction over a hush money payment to his stance on the January 6 Capitol insurrection, Mr Trump's campaign was riddled by controversies but this did not deter his supporters.
Immigration curbs and trade tariffs are also expected to be high on the president-elect's agenda, although questions remain as to how protectionist the upcoming US administration will be.

Future of HK media landscape / Mental Health survey on children and adolescent

    Presenters:Danny Gittings and Paul Zimmerman

On Thursday’s Backchat, we’re talking about the changing landscape of Hong Kong’s media industry.

Earlier this week, TVB announced it’ll lay off more than 300 people as part of a restructuring plan that'll merge two free-to-air channels to create one that’s more focused on a younger audience.

Hong Kong’s dominant broadcaster said while it would continue investing in prime-time production, it’ll cut budgets for fringe-hour content and axe non-performing programmes.

It added that it expects to save a further HK$100 million in content costs by 2024, having announced HK$260 million in annual cost savings earlier this year.

After 9:45am…we find out more about a new study on the mental health of children and adolescents.

9:05-9:30am Dr Florin Serban, Lecturer in the School of Communication at HKBU

9:05am-9:45am Marcel Fenez, President of Fenez Media limited

9:30am-9:45am Vera Yuen Lecturer, Faculty of Business and. Economics, University of Hong Kong
9:45am-10:00am Dr Sandra Chan, from the Children and Adolescent mental health team
