On Monday's Backchat, we're talking about efforts to tackle abuse of the public housing system, and also waiting times for a public rental flat.  

Latest data from the Housing Authority shows that the average wait increased to 5.6 years in the third quarter, from 5.3 in the previous period.

The authority has warned that the waiting time could rise further in the first half of next year, but it says the situation is under control and housing supply is expected to pick up in 2024.

Meanwhile, more than 50 households living in government-subsidized units have been found to own their own properties in the city, after tighter checking procedures came into effect.  

The director of housing has said that tenants who inform the authority about possible abuse of the system by their neighbours may be rewarded for doing so.
