Ozone pollution / Scams targeting Mainland students

    主持人:Janice Wong and Jenny Lam

On Wednesday’s Backchat, we're talking about air quality.

As Hong Kong returns to normalcy after the pandemic, air pollution here is also making a return too. That's according to a study by Clean Air Network which says the annual average concentration of ozone in the city reached a record high in 2023.
Roadside ozone concentration rose 32 percent last year. Many other major pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide, PM 10 and PM 2.5 also saw double-digit percentage increases, getting close to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
So how is ozone created? What are the reasons for the record high ozone concentration? And how does the cold weather we’re experiencing affect ozone levels?
After 9:45am, we speak to the police about scams targeting mainland students here.

    9:05am-9:45am: Ozone pollution

9:05am-9:30am: Patrick Fung, CEO of Clean Air Network

9:05am-9:45am: Quentin Parker, Professor of Astrophysics and Director of the Laboratory for Space Research, The University of Hong Kong

9:30am-9:45am: Leung Wing Mo, former Assistant Director, Hong Kong Observatory

    9:45am-10:00am: Scams targeting Mainland students

9:45am-10:00am: Julia Chan Wing-kwan, Chief Inspector of Police and Regional Crime Prevention Officer, New Territories South
