AI and copyright / Forced marriages among some ethnic minority communities

    Presenters:Brian Wong and Janice Wong

On Friday's Backchat, we’re talking about AI… and copyright.

As AI-generated content becomes more and more prevalent in our daily lives, there’s a growing need for answers to questions of ownership. Do users own the work they generate through AI? Could they be liable if their AI-generated products inadvertently violate someone else’s copyright? Or are there things — like deepfakes — that people shouldn’t be able to use AI for at all?
The Intellectual Property Department is working on a consultation paper on these very issues, and the clock is ticking as regulations struggle to keep pace with the breakneck speed of technology.
What do you think? Who, if anyone, owns AI-generated work? Do we need more guardrails?
After 9:45, we'll look into a study on forced marriages among some of Hong Kong's ethnic minority communities.

    9:05am-9:45am: AI and copyright
