Wave of cruise ship arrivals / Plastic producer responsibility scheme

In the first part of Tuesday's Backchat, we talk about the influx of cruise ships arriving in Hong Kong.

Seventeen cruise ships - including the newly built luxury vessels "Silver Nova" and "Queen Anne" - are set to visit the city this month, in a wave of arrivals expected to attract high spenders into the city.
In a social media post, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law said that cruise ship passengers will be able to join trips covering the Kai Tak Sports Park and other locations, in a move to promote tourism in the newly developed area.
In the latter part of the show, we'll speak to environmentalists on whether entertainment venues should be exempted from the plastic ban, after World Grand Prix snooker tournament guests were reportedly given plastic water bottles.

Fatal fire in Jordan / Greenpeace's waste-charging trial

    主持人:Andrew Work and Car Ha

On Friday's Backchat, we're talking about fire safety -- after a blaze in Jordan left five people dead and more than 40 injured on Wednesday.

Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the tragedy, but a Fire Services Department spokesperson told RTHK earlier that some of the fire doors were broken, which may have led to heavy smoke in one of the staircases.
According to a Buildings Department statement, the 60-year-old building had earlier been requested to carry out repair works, which includes the replacement of fire doors, and the provision of protected lobbies for the escape staircase. But the requests have not yet been met.
How fire compliant are our buildings? What more can be done to improve fire safety?
After 9:45, we find out more about a green group's waste- charging trial.
