Medical prescription mechanism review / Plans to allow pets on public transport

On Thursday's programme, we’re talking about proposals to increase the cost of prescription drugs at public hospitals and clinics.

Currently, patients pay only HK$15 for up to 16-weeks’ worth of supplies, with the government covering the remaining 92% of the cost. But the Hospital Authority wants to increase the price of general medicine to an as yet undisclosed figure, and use the savings to fund larger subsidies for users of costly patented drugs such as cancer sufferers.
Health authorities are also planning to reduce wastage by lowering the amount of medicine distributed to patients to a maximum of 24 weeks drug supply each time.
After 9:45, we discuss plans by the MTR Corporation and Kowloon Motor Bus to allow passengers to bring pets onboard buses and trains.

Fatal fire in Jordan / Greenpeace's waste-charging trial

    主持人:Andrew Work and Car Ha

On Friday's Backchat, we're talking about fire safety -- after a blaze in Jordan left five people dead and more than 40 injured on Wednesday.

Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the tragedy, but a Fire Services Department spokesperson told RTHK earlier that some of the fire doors were broken, which may have led to heavy smoke in one of the staircases.
According to a Buildings Department statement, the 60-year-old building had earlier been requested to carry out repair works, which includes the replacement of fire doors, and the provision of protected lobbies for the escape staircase. But the requests have not yet been met.
How fire compliant are our buildings? What more can be done to improve fire safety?
After 9:45, we find out more about a green group's waste- charging trial.
