Halal friendly tourism in Hong Kong / Airport passenger numbers and Cathay's new routes

On Thursday's Backchat, we're talking about the development of Halal tourism in Hong Kong.

Community leaders have called on the government to do more to attract practicing Muslim visitors by adding more prayer rooms and Halal certified restaurants. The suggestions come as the city is boosting economic exchanges and air routes with Muslim majority nations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
The Global Muslim Travel Index predicts the Muslim travel market will reach US$300 billion by 2026. But some argue that Hong Kong isn't doing enough compared with Singapore, Japan and Thailand.
So what is Halal tourism? How can businesses be compliant? And what can we learn from other cities in the region?
After 9:45, we speak with an aviation expert about Cathay’s newest routes and airport passenger figures which are at a post-pandemic high.

Closure of schools / Waste management in rural areas

    主持人:Jim Gould and Ada Wong

On Tuesday's Backchat, we're talking about calls for better supervision of school closures.

Controversy has arisen over the case of Rosaryhill Secondary School, in Wan Chai, which is planning to close earlier than orginally announced. Its sponsoring body had initially said it would close the school in 2026, because of enrollment and financial constraints, and stop admitting new pupils from this year. But it now intends to transfer students to another school in September.
Some parents have expressed concern that the decision could have an impact on their children's development, calling on the Education Bureau to take a more proactive approach in handling the matter.
After 9:45, we talk about ongoing improvements to refuse collection facilities in rural areas.

    9:05am-9:45am: Closure of schools

9:05am-9:45am: Mervyn Cheung, Chairman, Hong Kong Education Policy Concern Organisation
