    Backchat

On Monday’s Backchat, we talk about the future of the West Kowloon Cultural District.

The Executive Council conditionally agreed to a funding proposal to let the cash-strapped West Kowloon arts hub sell some of its land parcels for residential development.

Its CEO, Betty Fung, said the land would be sold in two to three batches in the coming years without specifying an exact timeline.

The authority managing the arts hub will run out of funds from its original $21.6bn government grant by March 2025. It has already imposed various cost-cutting measures, including limiting museums’ operating time.

Is the current strategy the right one?

Later on, we turn our attention to Skateboarding as it is (along with Breaking, sport climbing..)  one of many exhibition sports at the Paris Olympic game this year

9:05am-9:45am: Nicholas Brooke, Chairman of Professional Property Service Limited

9:05am-9:30am: John Batten, President of the International Association of Art Critics (Hong Kong)

9:30am-9:45am: Ryan Ip, Vice President and Head of Research, Our Hong Kong Foundation

9:50am-10:00am Warren Stuart, Head of Skateboarding Subcommittee, Federation of Roller Sports
