On Monday's Backchat, we’re talking about economic reforms on the mainland. The head of the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office Xia Baolong called on the two SARs businesses to seize opportunities in the GBA and beyond, while highlighting Hong Kong’s super connector role for international enterprises. The comments come as President Xi Jinping issued a reply letter to Hong Kong entrepreneurs with family ties to Ningbo, urging them to leverage their strengths and contribute to Chinese modernisation.
Meanwhile, a communiqué summarising last month’s third plenum pledged to continuity in facilitating foreign investments, while signalling that local authorities could be given more say on certain issues .
