    2025 mega-events calendar / HKJC's financial literacy programme

    On Thursday’s Backchat, we’re talking about the government’s plans to attract new visitors.

    Tourism authorities unveiled a list of 93 mega events for the first half of next year, which are expected to draw 840,000 visitors, a 50% rise on the same period this year. The government estimates these events could generate up to HK$3.3 billion in spending, up 40% on this year’s figure.
    From the Rugby Sevens next March to Coldplay’s concert in April, 2025 will also mark the first year of the new Kai Tak stadium, with a capacity of 50,000 seats.
    So will 2025 be an auspicious year for the events industry? After 9:45, we’ll learn about the Jockey Club’s new financial education programme.

    Poor eating among low-income residents / A look into the life of late French movie star Alain Delon

    On Tuesday's Backchat, we're talking about poverty alleviation and poor eating habits among low-income residents.

    A survey conducted by local NGO Food Grace revealed that a third of its 500 respondents were cutting back on the number of meals they ate, with most citing financial difficulties.
    Others admitted opting for more junk food, as the costs of such items is often more affordable than healthier options.
    Grassroots organisations have called on authorities to release food subsidies while raising nutritional awareness among these groups.
