Australia's plan to ban social media for under 16s / HPV free vaccination drive

    主持人:Jenny Lam and Mike Rowse

On Monday’s Backchat, we’re discussing whether young people should be banned from using social media.
Australian lawmakers are getting closer to passing a law that would ban youngsters under the age of 16 from using social media and this even if they have parental consent.
Under the government’s proposals, social media sites would be required to verify users’ age and tech giants found to have let under 16s use their platform could face penalties. However, underage users and their parents would not be in breach of the law.
And while acknowledging the harmful effects social media can have on youngsters, experts remain divided as to how effective such measures would be.
After 9:45, we’re talking about the government’s HPV vaccination drive, offering free jabs to young women.
