Hong Kong 2025 property outlooks /"Storm Clouds" drama: interview with the Hong Kong Dance Company

On Thursday’s Backchat, we’re looking at what to expect from Hong Kong’s property market in 2025.

The government is taking a cautious approach, offering only one plot of land to developers in the last quarter of this financial year.
Some analysts predict that the 10,000 new flats set to come on the market this year will also add to the existing glut of unsold units and further depress property prices.
But others are more optimistic, predicting that residential prices—and especially rentals—may record modest increases during the coming year.
So who’s right, and which way will the local property market move in 2025? We’ll talk to the experts.
After 9:45, we’re learning more about a martial arts dance drama by the Hong Kong Dance Company that’s based on a local comic legend.

Resignation of Canadian PM Justin Trudeau / Calls to postpone school exams

    主持人:Jim Gould and Mike Rowse

On Wednesday's Backchat, we're looking into the latest developments in Canadian politics, after the announcement from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that he intends to step down.

Mr Trudeau said he'd be bringing an end to his nine-years in office after the Liberal Party, which he currently leads, has chosen a new head.

The announcement comes as the party faces record low public approval ratings, ahead of federal elections in October this year.

Immigration is expected to be a focal point of the leadership race, along with questions about how Canada should manage its relationship with the United States, with the imminent return of Donald Trump as US president.

After 9:50, we speak to a concern group over calls by some teachers to delay school tests by two weeks, as some believe the timing is too close to the end of the Lunar New Year holidays.
