The eighth China International Import Expo (CIIE) has been declared a roaring success.
At the expo held recently in Shanghai, business leaders from around the world – from CEOs of multinationals to entrepreneurs in the Global South – showcased their products and made deals.
The CIIE highlighted China’s role in promoting global free trade as well as the country’s commitment to further open up.

In July of last year, China achieved an astonishing milestone.
For the first time in any country ever, more than half of all new vehicles sold for the month were either electric or hybrid cars - outpacing sales of conventional internal combustion engine vehicles.
This momentum is expected to continue this year, with experts predicting that more new energy vehicles will be sold in 2025 than traditional cars.
It's a testament to a decades-long effort to put China at the top of the electric car market, though many challenges remain, including western protectionism and a brutal price war.
