02/11/2024 - Ikko Yokoyama - lead curator for design and architecture at M+
You don’t have to be a fan of fashion to appreciate that the intricate details, design and craftsmanship that’s evident in Guo Pei’s work that’s on display right now at M+, isn’t quite the same thing as finding a cute sweater at the mall. The curator of the exhibition, Ikko Yokoyama, says Guo’s work is a clear example where clothes transcend fashion to become art. CultureZine’s art expert Ingrid Chen met up with her to pick her brain on all things fashion, Guo Pei’s work and what she wants visitors to take away from the exhibition:

The exhibition also displays the script and lyrics manuscripts for the major musical "Liuyi's Letter" that’s never been exhibited before:

This week, we look ahead to the Affordable Art Fair with Hong Kong Fair director Regina Zhang. CultureZine’s resident art expert will be digging deep with one painter taking part in the fair to find out what makes her tick, and to ask her about her dream coffee date. Also in store is a closer look at the wonders on display at the Palace Museum, and the workshop of one of Hong Kong’s few violin makers.
If you know of something special — a place, a person, or an experience in the arts and culture space... then let us know. Send an email to culturezine@rthk.hk
