    10/08/2024 - Teriver Cheung - Founder of Drip Music

    This Friday and Saturday, a number of world-renowned artists including multi-instrumentalist Justin Stanton, American singer-songwriter Becca Stevens, and trailblazing bassist Lex Sadler, will team up with local talents to bring you diverse acoustic and synthesised sounds at the 440 concert. The concert is organised by Drip music – a group that strives to promote contemporary jazz and chamber music, while encouraging creative musical and cross-disciplinary collaborations in Hong Kong. The organisation is founded by Teriver Cheung who will also be performing at the concert. He first told our culture expert Anthony Lui more about Drip music:

    10/08/2024 - Takahashi Mizuki - Executive Director of the Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile

    A few weeks ago, CultureZine’s Halim spoke to one of Hong Kong‘s best known media artists Kingsley Ng to find out how he was preparing for his large scale solo exhibition - called Listen to the sound of Earth Spinning. It’s an ambitious and innovative display that seeks create contemplative, meditative experiences through poetic and minimalist interventions that involve sound, light, image and kinetic installations. Now, the exhibition is finally open at CHAT - the Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile located at The Mills in Tsuen Wan. Halim’s gone back to check out the show, and she spoke to the centre’s executive director and chief curator, Takahashi Mizuki:

    10/08/2024 - Chan Sai-lok and Chui Pui-chee - local artists

    Earlier this year, Hollywood road was ranked the second coolest street in the world by TimeOut Magazine. The road is well known for blending eastern and western cultures together, showcasing everything from antique shops to old street stalls. And now two local artists Chan Sai Lok and Chui Pui chee have come up with a joint exhibition for their Hollywood Road inspired artwork. Janice Wong first asked Mr Chan how he’s inspired by the iconic street:

    10/08/2024 - Emily Au Yeung - Assistant Curator of the Wu GuanZhong exhibition

    If you are an art lover you probably already know about the ongoing Wu Guanzhong exhibition at the Hong Kong museum of art that’s been going on for a few months now. But if you haven’t been to see it yet, you might want to do it soon because the second phase of the exhibition will be launched mid-September and when that happens the paintings by the contemporary Chinese painter that are currently on display will be removed. Janice Wong went for a quick tour.

    We‘re going to find out how teaching inspires one Hong Kong-based singer- songwriter, and he is Sam Barbour an educator who has just released his new single called “Stormproof”. He spoke to Ben Tse on Broad Strokes:
