Dr. Koji Hirata from Monash University in Australia - Making Mao's Steelworks: Industrial Manchuria and the Transnational Origins of Chinese Socialism
In this week's episode, we will talk about steelworks manufacturing in China under Mao Zedong. Dr. Koji Hirata from Monash University in Australia will tell us the history of Angang from 1915 to 2000 which reveals the hybrid nature of China's accelerated industrialization, shaped by transnational interactions, domestic factors, and local dynamics. Dr. Hirata was invited by The University of Hong Kong to give a talk entitled “Making Mao's Steelworks: Industrial Manchuria and the Transnational Origins of Chinese Socialism.”
