Food-hunting and survival, as well as courtship and breeding, are all important issues for all creatures in the nature.

Some endangered Black-Faced Spoonbills find a local food paradise, so that they can enjoy a feast; on the contrary, a rarely seen Steppe Eagle, which is only recorded twice in Hong Kong, is attacked by resident birds when it stops by a fish pond situated at the north for food and replenishment. Tens of thousands of butterflies flock to a valley for the winter. When encounter the Vespa velutina, a hungry predator, can the butterflies make it through the winter?

The period between spring and summer is the time for many species to breed, with Romer’s Tree Frogs calling for courtship in the woods, Minivet couples working together to build their nests, and Crested Goshawk nestlings hatching. All species strive for propagation, and there are stories of success and failure.

Species Recorded: Black-Faced Spoonbill, Pied Avocet, Eurasian Curlew, Grey Plover, Steppe Eagle, Overwintering Danaids, Orange-Bellied Leafbird, Scarlet Minivet, Crested Goshawk, Romer’s Tree Frog, Parapolybia indica and Black-Winged Stilt.
