In Denmark, nurse May Bjerre Eiby suffered the painful loss of her dementia father due to neglect at a nursing home. She is determined to set up a nursing home centering on holistic care and kindness over unnecessary medications for people with dementia. May and her staff have developed a new kind of treatment -- ‘Compassion Treatment,’ as May calls it, which prioritizes hugs, touch, talking and humor offering her residents an aging life with dignity and grace.
