Ko Shing Street, also known as the Medicinal Street, is a narrow street spanning just 300 meters located in the Sheung Wan area of Hong Kong. This street is a hub for almost all commonly used Chinese herbal medicines in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong herbal medicine traders around Ko Shing Street was once the largest exporter of Chinese herbal medicines, serving as a gateway for traditional Chinese medicine to reach overseas markets. Since the reunification with the motherland in July 1997, the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in Hong Kong has entered a new phase. Hong Kong's TCM has established a solid foundation in terms of regulatory compliance, scientific research, education, and citizen services, and has been steadily advancing. Through the concerted efforts of the industry, academic and research communities, various sectors of society, and the government, as well as enhanced collaboration with mainland China and overseas partners, the development of TCM in Hong Kong will reach new heights.
