The Music Voyager team visits Cartagena, filming acclaimed artist Totó la Momposina performing with her band on the beach as local children join in the dancing. Cartagena is also a hub for champeta music, which blends contemporary African styles with Latin and Caribbean influences. The team interacts with local stars like Louis Towers, producer Lucas Silva, and sound engineer Charles King, exploring the historic yet vibrant city from the old town to the beaches of La Boquilla.

Music Voyager journeys through Colombia, visiting Valledupar and Barranquilla. In Valledupar, they meet superstar Fonseca and the "King of Kings" of accordion, and join the "Little Vallenato Children" for a performance. In the port city of Barranquilla, the team tours the carnival rehearsals with singer Erika Muñoz, and legendary artist Joe Arroyo performs in a library. This trip showcases the rich geography, culture, and music of Colombia.

Colombian music embraces fusion, blending traditional rhythms with electronic beats. Music Voyager explores this trend in Bogotá, starting with an energetic street performance by La Mojarra Eléctrica. We meet DJ Richard Blaire, a pioneer of electrotropical music, and experience Systema Solar's funky sound at Andrés Carne de Res. Bomba Estéreo's founder, Simon Mejia, introduces us to their popular electrotropical style at Gaira restaurant, which doubles as a Colombian music museum.

Medellín, infamous as Pablo Escobar's home, is now a thriving city in a beautiful mountain valley. We visit a local hip-hop school and community center, witnessing a freestyle display by Crew Peligroso. J. Balvin invites us to his penthouse for a private performance, followed by a visit to El Cielo restaurant. We explore Discos Fuentes, a pioneering record label, and perform with Puerto Candelaria, a unique jazz band bringing creativity to Colombian cumbia.

The Colombian city of Cali is renowned as the global epicenter of salsa, a vibrant tropical dance music. Music Voyager delves into Cali's salsa culture, meeting iconic band Grupo Niche and witnessing world-class salsa dancers showcasing their moves. The team also explores the city's Afro-Pacific musical heritage, with performances by Grupo Bahia and Herencia de Timbiquí. Lastly, they collaborate with the innovative salsa band La-33, who are infusing a contemporary twist into the classic genre.

'The Music Voyager team heads to Bogota, Colombia capital and biggest metropolis, to explore the city’s thriving rock and pop music scene. We are treated to an unplugged performance in the historic neighborhood of La Candelaria by world famous rockers Aterciopelados, who also bring us to a nearby indigenous peoples cultural center for a ceremony with Arahuaco shamans. The up and coming rock band Superlitio takes us to their recording studio for a private jam, and Jacob, our host, digs through the crates at a funky shoe store/vinyl record store in downtown Bogotá. Finally, we meet up with Fonseca, one of Colombia’s biggest pop stars, who brings us to the Monserrate cathedral high in the mountains overlooking Bogotá for an unplugged performance of his hit song “Paraíso”.

'Nawlins’…the Crescent City, where the local music and cuisine have a lot in common: they are both spicy, fused with a multicultural mix of ingredients, and once you've had a taste, all you want is more. Music Voyager arrives here during the build up to Mardi Gras, the time of the year when people forget all of their worries and join together in crazy celebration. The musical journey starts moves from the classic jazz at Preservation Hall, to the sounds of trumpeter Irvin Mayfield at his club on Bourbon Street. Virtuoso Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews treats Music Voyager to a searing demonstration of his talents, followed by an intimate get together with crooner Jeremy Davenport. Music Voyager catches a scorching jam with Cyril Neville and Galactic at the famed Tiptitina’s, and joins local legend Kermit Ruffins at his annual Mardi Gras morning barbeque party.

Shreveport, a city with rich musical history, is a crossroads between the deep African-American traditions of the south, the country music, Western swing and rockabilly that predated rock and roll and the spicy influence of Cajun and Creole music. Music Voyager is graciously hosted by rock star and blues guitar virtuoso Kenny Wayne Shepherd, who takes us to Leadbelly’s grave for an acoustic jam with local icon Buddy Flett. Kenny Wayne introduces Music Voyager to Maggie Warwick of the famed radio show The Louisiana Hayride for a special performance on the stage where Elvis first became a star. Music Voyager sits down with guitar legend James Burton for a demonstration of his pioneering guitar licks, followed by a grumble boogie party with the band Dirtfoot.

Terrence Simien, a GRAMMY winner and one of zydeco’s biggest stars, takes host Jacob Edgar on a horseback trail ride followed by a jam with the next generation of Creole musicians. The Lost Bayou Ramblers, a young Cajun music band bring Music Voyager to their family camp for a musical get together on the banks of the Vermillion River, followed by a soulful duet by songwriter David Egan and singer Marc Broussard. In this enchanting episode, Music Voyager experiences the food, lifestyles and culture of Southwest Louisiana.
