馬丁．路德．金之死標誌著民權運動的轉捩點，激發全美各地的非洲裔美國人，奮起反抗長久以來所遭受的不平等和不公義。哀悼過後，黑人社群團結起來，繼續推動馬丁‧路德‧金所倡導的民權運動，抗爭路上，迴盪著Nina Simone激越的抗議歌曲、James Brown高唱黑人權力運動的頌歌，以及Aretha Franklin的非凡歌聲。
自1968年以來，民權運動一直以雞蛋撼動高牆之姿，在歷史上展開一場漫長的抗爭，反抗精神則在音樂上遍地開花：由Stevie Wonder發起運動，要求設立紀念馬丁‧路德‧金的全國性假期；到Kendrick Lamar唱出帶有尖銳批判的抗議歌曲，成為「黑人的命也是命」這場平權運動的頌歌。片集所聚焦的音樂，歌頌非洲裔美國人的非凡毅力和團結精神，同時亦提醒著我們，抗爭之路仍然漫長。

The Assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.
The death of Martin Luther King, Jr. marked a turning point in the Civil Rights Movement, a moment of reckoning for African Americans in the United States. After the mourning, the community gathered its strength to continue King’s fight, inspired by the fiery protest songs of Nina Simone, the black power anthem of James Brown, and the extraordinary voice of Aretha Franklin.
The continued struggle for civil rights has been a long and uneven battle since 1968, but the spirit of resistance has been kept alive in the music, from Stevie Wonder’s campaign to establish a Martin Luther King national holiday to Kendrick Lamar’s searing protest song that became an anthem for the Black Lives Matter Movement. The music in this episode both celebrates the strength and solidarity of the African American experience while reminding us how far we still have to go.
