RTHK produces school ETV programmes for the
Education Department in support of the Government's education
policies. All programmes are broadcast to schools via the
two local terrestrial television stations on weekdays from
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during term time. The annual broadcast output
is 1 280 hours. The programmes can also be viewed online at
"eTVonline" website
http://www.eTVonline.tv and on Cable TV. In 2002, RTHK
will reduce the school ETV production costs by 10% through
productivity enhancement. In collaboration with the Education
Department, all existing school programmes will be reviewed,
and outdated ones will be replaced by non-curriculum programmes.
All school programmes will be digitised and VCDs produced
for free distribution to schools. Additionally, web-based
interactive programmes and programmes which promote life-wide
learning will be produced.
