RTHK started the Internet service in December
1994, and a New Media Unit was established in October 2000
to explore and develop multi-media opportunities in the new
media arena. Most of the radio and television programmes produced
are now webcast live on the Internet, including Radios 1,
2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 as well as more than 7 hours weekly of regular
prime-time Chinese and English television programmes. On-demand
archives service is also provided for programmes broadcast
in the past 12 months. The website is enriched by special
projects from time to time with a dedicated e-Learning section
providing literature, arts and language contents. For more
details, please visit our website at http://www.rthk.org.hk.
2001
New services introduced included
24-hour instant Chinese and English news, financial news,
hourly updated news bulletins, current affairs programmes,
free online news subscription service, simplified Chinese
version, PDA downloadable version, and original soundbites
to the instant news scripts. The daily access hit rate to
our homepage has risen to six million. Around 50% of these
visits were from abroad.
