5. School Educational Television (ETV) Service
RTHK produces programmes on seven school ETV subjects for the Education Bureau (EDB) which are aired via the two local terrestrial television stations on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. during school term. The programmes can also be viewed online at ‘eTVonline’ (www.eTVonline.tv) and on VCDs/DVDs distributed to schools. RTHK’s Tutor Online and eTVonline provide platforms through which students and teachers can interact and communicate.
In 2008-09, ETV will:
  • continue to produce new programmes on school subjects and cross-curriculum education and strengthen learning and teaching of Liberal Studies for the EDB;
  • produce non-curriculum programmes, such as coverage of inter-school contests including Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, re-packaging of RTHK TV prime-time programmes with educational values, and ‘Education Magazine’ to cover the current development of education sector and education reform;
  • emphasize on diversification of learning opportunities through eTVonline and continue to strengthen its ties with schools by hosting interactive activities on campuses to build a community of students and teachers;
  • launch an educational portal in eTVonline website to educate students and the public on the development of digital terrestrial television in Hong Kong; and
